MapQuest - A great resource for travelers
We have all found ourselves in a position of needing directions. It used to be that we would pull out our road maps and our atlas to find the directions we needed to get where we need to go. Then along came MapQuest, the online map resource that makes it easy to find directions. I have used MapQuest on several occasions, and for the most part it has been very helpful. At least one time however, the directions that were recommended weren’t the quickest route for us to take. The nice thing about MapQuest, though, is that you can customize your search. MapQuest has added additional features that can help you get the best possible route for your trip.
You can customize your search to find the route with the shortest time. Many variables are considered to find the most efficient route based on the expected trip time. You can also customize your search to find the route that is the shortest distance, and you can select the “avoid highways” option if you’d prefer a more scenic and laid back route. Another great feature that is offered is a travel plan that helps you avoid tolls. MapQuest makes it so easy to find exactly the route you want to make your trip enjoyable and less stressful, without the fear that you will get lost.
When using MapQuest, you simply enter your home address or location where you will begin travel. Then, enter your end destination location. If you don’t know the street address, simply enter the city and state. You can even enter an airport name or hotel name in the “Ending Location Place Name” box. MapQuest will generate the directions with the shortest route time. You will be provided with step-by-step directions and will indicate the distance from one step to the next. It will also tell you the estimated travel time and the total number of miles.
Below your step-by-step directions you will find a map with your starting location and ending location and the route highlighted. An added feature allows you to reverse the directions for your return trip.
