Christian Religion - A relationship that will change your life
The Christian religion is the world’s largest religious belief, with nearly 2.1 billion believers in the world today. There are many different denominations, which share various doctrinal differences that are related to culture and location. There are three main branches of Christianity: Roman Catholicism, Eastern Christianity, and Protestantism. Protestantism includes many denominations, including Lutherans, Presbyterians, Methodists, Baptists, and Pentecostals, among others.
Although there are many denominations and doctrinal beliefs in the Christian religion, the center of this faith is the belief in Jesus Christ. The Christian religion believes that Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born from Mary, and as a man died on the cross and was resurrected three days later. To be a believer and follower of Christ, one must believe these things, recognize that they are a sinner, acknowledge that Jesus died for everyone’s sins, and then rose again and is now living with God in Heaven. A believer would then ask Jesus into their heart. The Christian religion believes that the Holy Bible is the true word of God and that everything in it is a guideline for the way that we should live our lives.
Although Jesus is the Son of God, he also lived as a fully human man for thirty-three years on earth. Jesus is just one part of the Holy Trinity, with God and the Holy Spirit being the other two parts. The three parts—God the Father, Jesus the Son, and The Holy Spirit are three persons, yet wholly God. This is a confusing aspect of the Christian religion; however, when becoming a believer, it is something that doesn’t have to be fully understood. The presence of all three can be felt in many aspects of daily life. God created us, He sent Jesus to save us, and He gives us the Holy Spirit once we have accepted Christ for our salvation.
The Christian religion believes that salvation is obtained by believing in Jesus and accepting Him into your heart and life through prayer. Although good works and things we do for God are looked upon favorably, as this is what we should strive to do, good works don’t get someone to Heaven. Only the belief and acceptance of Jesus Christ will guarantee us eternal life in Heaven.
Another belief in the Christian religion is that Jesus will return to earth someday at a time and hour that is not known to anyone. The book of Revelation in the Bible reveals, in imagery, clues as to what the end times, or the time before Christ is to return. The best way to be prepared for Christ’s return is to accept Him into your heart today.
