Christian Drama - Fun and faith for everyone
Christian drama is a very fun and creative way to present the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I have been involved in this ministry through performing in four dramas. It is an easy non-threatening way for non-Christians to see and hear how to get to heaven. Many non-believers would never go to church or any church function, but they will go to a church to see a family member of friend in a Christian drama, especially if it is a niece, nephew, grandchild, or child.
I have been involved with Easter and Christmas plays at my church with most of the actors being in grades three through twelve. However, since I am an adult, I usually play the devil or a mean principal. I love to work with the kids in Christian drama. Jesus himself showed us how important children are, as it says in the Bible in Matthew 19:14 “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Christian drama gives me the opportunity to work with, interact with, pray with and teach and mentor kids. I can also show them how important they are to me and to God!
It is unbelievable how good the kids do, they work really hard to memorize their lines and be in the right place at the right time. The dress rehearsal for Christian drama usually makes everyone nervous since it is the last practice before the show and most of the time it does not go well. The writer/director and all the adult help get very nervous. Through prayer and God’s anointing, the Christian drama goes off without a hitch. It is amazing how great the kids do. God pours out His spirit on all who are involved and all who attend. The event is a total blessing. Either through Christ’s birth (Christmas) or Christ’s death (Easter), the Gospel message is presented.
Another Christian drama I was involved in included mostly adults and some children. It was a very serious and intense portrayal of what happens when people die, depicting Heaven and hell. I played Satan in this play as well. It was a lot of fun and a huge blessing to be a part of. We only had three rehearsals and spent as much time in prayer and worship as we did practicing. We did two shows and had to add a third show by popular demand. Through three nights of this Christian drama, I believe nearly two hundred people made Jesus Christ their Lord and Savior. That was an awesome experience to be a part of.
