Whether your new pet is a male or female, large breed, or small breed, their name in the end, is what matters the most. Giving the right puppy names to your pets is very important. There are lists upon lists of popular names, but I think, choosing a special and unique name is more exciting. Puppies need a lot of attention and training as they grow, so calling out their puppy names needs to be easy to understand for them. In their perfect little world, they will hear “NO, NO, NO!!!” and who knows, they’ll start to think that “No” is their name. That is how important it is to choose a name right away…even before your big baby arrives home. Unusual puppy names are quite easy to come up with, and easier for people to remember. You want you’re pet to have a name that no other animal in the park has…or it could get confusing for your pet.
Here is a short list of things to remember when puppy names aren’t coming into your head easily…take a look at this and guide your thoughts in the right direction.
-Write a list of everyone’s ideas, include the children’s too.
-Keep the puppy names simple, they are puppies, ya know!
-Use one or two syllables in their name, lots of syllables can loose their attention
-Are they easy to call out?
-Base the name on how they act and their appearance
-Don’t pick puppy names that sound like instructions (i.e. Sit, stay, etc.)
-Ask yourself this question…do I like it? Try out the name you picked and test it out for a few days before completely deciding
-You’re dog might be adopted, if so, try using the same name they already owned
Try these hints, and finding the right puppy names still might be a large task, then additional information will need to be obtained, like lists from the library. Another helpful hint is to try picking a name that ends in “y” or “ie”, this helps them to recognize their name easier. If you have more than one pet, make sure their puppy names are completely different. Start their name off with different letters. If one is Snoopy, name the other one Roscoe. If one is Toby, name the other one Mazzi. Daisy, Roxanne, Sierra, Shadow, and Duchess are some great puppy names for female dogs.
