Planning the closet Organizer:
You first need to search for the studs in the closets you are designing the closet organizer for. Use the tape measure to get the dimensions between the two studs. The lower rod on the side with 2 rods should be 3 inches lower than the bottom of the short clothes to give room for the hangers. Measure your longest piece of short clothing and add three inches. Also the brackets at the ends of the rods need to be attatched to the studs. The sides of the shelving unit attach to the studs as well.
Next you want to draw level lines. You will want to measure where the top shelves over the rods will go. Use the level and mark the wall with a line that is ling enough to be your guide for the shelf brackets.
If the lumberyard did not cut your plywood for the shelving you will have to use your saber saw to cut 2 sides for the shelving unit as well as 2 shelves for over the rods. Sand the shelves for the closet organizer.
You have the option to paint the shelves and the rods at this point. (This will make a nicer appearance of the closet organizer.)
Now you will want to cut the shelving standards so they are long enough to run from the top to the bottom of your closet organizer. Use your hacksaw to cut these. Attach the standards using ½ inch screws on both sides of the shelving units. They go 1 inch from the front and back ends.
Attach an angle bracket to the top and bottom of the shelving unit using the ½ inch screws. Place the side of a right angle to the wall and use the level to make sure it is vertical. Mark the wall where the holes in the angle brackets are on the stud. Drill 1 inch screws through the bracket attaching it to the wall stud. Repeat this on the other side.
Measure the shelves so they ft between the shelving standards. Sand. Paint shelves and allow drying if desired. Put the shelf clips in place. Put in the shelves into the closet organizer. Attach the combination brackets to the wall with the 1 inch screws. Place the rod in the combination bracket and attach the shelf to the bracket with the 1 inch screws. Repeat for other shelf.
Attach the lower rod. Measure down the wall where you will be putting the rod. Measure 12 inches from the back and mark with an X. Make 2 marks 1 inch above and 1 inch below the X. Find the studs on either side of the X and measure the distance between the two. Cut the 1×2 board so it fits. Attach the board with the 2 inch screws. Measure the distance from the 1×2 to the shelving side. Cut the rod 1.4 inch shorter. Slip the flanges onto the rod. Make sure it is level. Install the optional drawers to your closet organizer.
Now your closet organizer is complete. You can now build closet organizer for all the rooms in your house.
