Valentines Day - Great Ideas for Married Couples

valentines day - celebrate the lovely day with your husband/wife Valentine’s Day for the married couple, especially one who has been married for several years and has children, may not be as exciting as it once was. With our busy schedules and our children’s busy schedules, there is not much time left to spend on a night out or weekend getaway. Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to get away from home and make time for your valentine.
My most exciting February 14th was the year my husband proposed, and that was twelve years ago. These days, it’s not usually a big deal, and if my husband could get away with it, it would be completely overlooked. It doesn’t help that my birthday is only a week and a half after Valentine’s Day, so I think he thinks he can sometimes combine the two! Although Valentine’s Day isn’t what it once was for us when we were young and child-free, it is still nice to do something special or to get a special Valentine’s Day gift for each other. I’ve found that over the years it’s the simple things that are the most special. It doesn’t require a lot of money, either, and it isn’t necessary to even “get away” somewhere. Some simple Valentine’s Day ideas for the busy married couple would be:
· Find recipes and cook a special dinner together and include the kids. Prepare a favorite meal or a dish that you had on a special occasion or past Valentine’s Day. The kids will have fun, and it’s a chance for everyone to be together. Make the kids do the dishes!

· Dress up for dinner, and eat by candlelight. Play your favorite romantic music and songs that have special meaning for you both.

· Go out to eat (be sure to make reservations well in advance) or order in.

· Write each other a love letter. Remember those Valentine’s Days (they may seem like ancient history) when you’d write mushy letters and exchange mushy cards? Show each other that you still feel that way.
· Click around the internet for romantic date ideas… there’s some great stuff for free!

· Watch your wedding video and pull out those wedding pictures. The family will love looking at pictures of you in your fancy gown and tux and it will bring back memories for you as well.

· Re create a past Valentine’s Day.

· Give each other reminders of what you love about each other and end with a massage.

· Leave each other little notes in a lunch box, set them in a bath room cabinet, or other place where the other will find it.

We all need to make time for our spouses to keep our marriages healthy and exciting forever. The romantic holiday is a great time to take that time, but it reminds us that we should treat each day like Valentine’s Day.
