Snowball Fight - Get out and enjoy the cold!
As an adult, do you remember gathering all your friends in the neighborhood and having a snowball fight? Did you ever play dodge ball but making it into a snowball fight? Was Dad out shoveling the white stuff and you decided to bean him in the back of the head and a duel ensued? These are treasured memories of childhood. And sadly, this is innocent fun that a lot of our kids are not enjoying. It is time as parents to teach our kids to get away from the computer generated snowball fight on the computer and take them outside and show them how much fun getting exercise can be!
There are many computer-generated games about a snowball fight on the computer. But all the exercise our kids get is pushing a button. Instead, if it is a snowy day, bundle them up and take them outside for an old-fashioned snowball fight.
If you have little ones, make this first introduction into the fun of playing in the snow enjoyable. Teach them to build balls with the white stuff and toss it at their outside toys. Take Fido outside with you. Animals tend to love the white stuff tossed at them. This will make the children laugh when their dog eats their ball of snow!
For older kids, gather a bunch of them up from the neighborhood, take them in the back yard and teach them different games. For instance, first have them build forts on different ends of the yard, and then teach them the game of Capture the Flag. Put flags on top of each fort and tell them whoever steals the flag and makes it back to their fort is the winner! A grand snowball fight will ensue!
Another great snowball fight to teach them is dodgeball. This is a game they are familiar with from school. Put kids into teams. Instead of throwing a dodgeball, they are going to make it a snowball fight. Whoever gets hit is out, and if they manage to catch one of the projectiles without it falling apart, that person’s team gets to bring someone else back in. Definitely tell them they may not hit in the face!
Teaching kids about a snowball fight will be something they will definitely enjoy! Not only will they get to pop their friends, but it will also teach them about how to work as a team. It will also help them to be able to throw and hit things with success. This is some of the most fun they will have for free!
