Mothers Day - Make sure you honor her!
Mothers Day was created as a way for all of us to be able to say, “Thanks” to that special women who gave us life and sacrifices so much for us every day. Motherhood is the most thankless job that a woman can have. What women do for their families on an every day basis largely goes unnoticed. It’s great that we have a day with which to honor her and make her feel special.
Mothers Day is always the second Sunday in May. This is important for everyone in the family, from the children to the husband/father to make this day full of appreciation and have lots of celebrating. You might decide to start off the day with breakfast in bed with a bouquet of flowers. Mom is probably the one that does most of the cooking, and this would be a special treat for her to enjoy a nice breakfast in bed!
Gifts are a great thing on Mothers Day also. Now before you start thinking that this means a lot of money – you are wrong. If Mom has small kids at home, a fantastic gift would be a macaroni necklace and a homemade card. Use tempura paints and have the kids put their handprints on a card. This is such a sentimental, thoughtful gift! It means more on Mothers Day that she is thought of and that the gifts come with love, not the monetary value! Crafts mean more than money on Mothers Day!
If you do want to buy something special on Mothers Day, think of her favorite color and search for a piece of jewelry in that color. Give a gift certificate for a massage. Think of what she likes and make it special!
If Mom’s are long distance on Mothers Day, and she has a computer, give her an email shower. Flowers are also a phone call away. And speaking of the phone, if your mom is long distance, make sure you pick up the phone and talk to her!
Spending time around the table at a nice meal is also a great gift on Mothers day! Celebrate with a nice meal and give the gift that she is loved all year long, not just on one day! Family is most important to Moms, so create a special day she will remember forever!
Remember everything that she is doing or has done for you, and make sure you remember her on the one day of the year that it counts – Mothers Day! She is unselfish 364 days a year, make sure she benefits one day a year!
