Christmas Decorating - ‘Tis the season!
Christmas decorating is the most beautiful season to fancy up your house! It will put you in the mood; your kids will have many memories when they get older, and since you will be doing much more entertaining this time of the year, why not! Think back to your childhood memories, what precious memory do you hold in your heart about the holidays? Was it building a gingerbread house with your mom and siblings? Was it going to cut down the holiday tree as a family? Was it the homemade smells from cookies baking in the oven?
Christmas decorating and all that goes with it is probably one of the strongest memories that we hold dear in our hearts! Christmas decorating can be simple or complex; it’s totally up to you. Start with the outside of your house. The outdoors is as important as inside and will make a statement to all your neighbors that Christmas decorating is important to you. Are you into lots of lights on the trees? Arrange pinecones and holly branches in a basket outside your door. Put a pretty wreath on your door to welcome friends and family.
Do it with your personal style. Maybe your idea of Christmas decorating may be lots of lawn ornaments and runway lights for Santa on your roof! Have fun!
Christmas decorating inside your home is the most special. Your focal point, of course, will be your tree. Do you want the smell of a live one or the no mess of an artificial one? If you choose an artificial one, make sure to burn pine-scented candles so you don’t miss out on the smell. Another way to get the real pine smell, use garlands made of evergreen boughs around a banister or fireplace area. Put twigs of berries throughout. If you have little ones, teach them to make simple crafts or ornaments out of homemade materials. Make sure you have mistletoe hanging somewhere! String popcorn as a family! Christmas decorating should be a family project. When it comes time to gift-wrap, do the unexpected. Take brown paper, have the kids draw pictures on the paper and wrap your presents with the homemade paper. Have the kids hang candy canes on the tree, and let them each one for each day of leading up Santa’s big day!
