Kids Games - Fast, Simple and Easy
Kids games you can find them anywhere, the internet is a huge resource in which you can link to kids games. What did we do before we had the internet to find all these kids games? We played ring a round the rosy, London bridges, hide and seek and freeze tag. Today, kids games are computer based. Our kids sit in front of a computer, TV or have an electronic hand held game. Kids games that are electronic aren’t all bad. I think they need a variety and a time limit. My dad always says “Everything in moderation” kids games are no exception. Growing up in the 70’s we didn’t have the pleasure of sitting at home in front of a computer playing a video game. We were too busy running around the backyard playing freeze tag. To play freeze tag: one person is it and all the others run from “it” when that person tags you, you must “freeze” until another player comes and unfreezes you. The game continues (all day in some cases).
Kids games do not just begin and end with the physical type. You can also have puzzles, board, card and memory types. How about the arcade? Because we didn’t have the computer in the privacy of our home, we would spend a whole day in one playing game after game. We’d go to the playground and play baseball, basketball, Frisbee, hopscotch or four square.
Now that I am a parent I see how easy it could be to let the computer or the TV be my babysitter. However, I don’t want my children becoming lazy and mesmerized by them. I challenge my children everyday by having them pick an activity out of a jar which would include: Game time, Imagination Time, Craft Time, Exercise Time, Quiet Time, Computer Time, Music Time, Reading Time, and Workbook Time. This has become a game in itself because my daughter loves Imagination Time so she tries so hard to pick it. Each activity must be at least 15 minutes and the TV must be off. Another policy in the house is that when my daughter is on the computer we set the timer and when it goes off so does the computer.
