Taco Bell - Think outside the bun
Taco Bell is a fast food restaurant which serves foods that are based on Mexican cuisine. One of the most famous slogans that is used by Taco Bell is to make people “think outside the bun” which encourages people to eat at their restaurant instead of other fast food restaurants which serve mostly burgers such as Burger King and McDonalds.
Glen Bell is the founder of the fast food chain and he first started out by opening up a hot dog stand in San Bernardino, California in 1946. He opened his first Taco Bell in Downey, California in 1962. The first franchise was sold in 1964 and they went public in 1968. Glen Bell sold the Taco Bell chain to PepsiCo in 1978. It eventually became a part of Yum! Brands, Inc. back in May 2002.
Taco Bell has not used that many mascots during its time although that changed in 1997 when the Taco Bell Chihuahua was introduced. He was a Spanish-speaking dog who often used the famous line “Yo Quiero Taco Bell” which in English means, “I want Taco Bell.” The characters voice was done by Carlos Alazraqui. By 1998, the Chihuahua was the biggest commercial star worldwide but as usually happens with all pop culture icons, this diminished by 2000.
Today, when you walk into a Taco Bell, you have a wide variety of items to choose from to satisfy your hunger. If you’re in the mood for tacos, you can choose a crunchy, a crunchy supreme, a soft, a soft supreme, a ranchero chicken soft or a grilled steak. If burritos are what you’re in the mood for, you can choose between a bean burrito, 7-layer burrito, chili cheese burrito, burrito supreme, fiesta burrito or a grilled stuft burrito. They also have many speciality items such as a fiesta salad, tostada, mesican pizza, enchirito, meximelt, quesadilla, zesty chicken border bowl, southwest steak bowl, crunchwrap supreme or a cheese gordita crunch. Of course, no meal is complete without adding in some nachos or a nachos supreme or maybe even some zesty Mexican rice at the end.
