Soon enough, the bees will start buzzing, the fly’s will start pesting, and all those little insects that love the little red berry as much as we do (they’re not playing games) they will start to eat you’re strawberries! Before all that happens, think about this: Strawberry shortcake! I think strawberry shortcake is one of the best summer treats out there! If you don’t know what I’m talking about, strawberry shortcake is a dessert including a few items like: moist cake topped with fresh cut strawberries, milk poured all over and last, but not least, a light pink color cool whip texture frosting.
There are a lot of grocery stores that carry this sweet dessert around the summer, but store bought treats are just not as good as homemade. At this site, I’ll explain how to create this excellent dessert for a price you won’t believe! Have you ever tried a version of strawberry shortcake using blueberry flavor?
Before we begin, I must warn you of the secret recipe I’m about to give you. If, however, you should take this lightly and joke, you will never get to experience the wonderful bowl of goodness that I will share. My mother passed the strawberry shortcake recipe down to me and it has been a treat ever since I was a little girl.
Homemade Strawberry Shortcake
2 cups sugar
1 cup Crisco
1 cup milk
4 eggs
3 cups flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1.Sift together the flour and baking powder together
2.Cream the sugar and Crisco together
3.Add the eggs
4.Add flour mixture, alternately with milk, ending with flour
5.Back for 45 min at 375 degrees (makes 9 x 13 loaf)
Now for the Strawberry Shortcake Whip
1 cup sugar
2 egg whites
1 cup chopped berries
1.Beat egg whites until stiff.
2.Gradually add sugar and berries
3.Beat again until stiff
Now, there is a certain order that this dessert needs to be served in. Serve a piece of the bread in a cereal bowl. Add the fresh strawberries on top, and pour about an inch of milk into the bottom of the bowl. The next method takes a lot of skill… get a large spoon and scoop out some of the strawberry shortcake whip, plop it onto your bowl, make sure you have a heaping scoop, considering this is the best part!
For additional advice, if you don’t have enough time to bake the cake part, you can also go to the store and by shortbread muffins. They work just as well in a rush, but remember you won’t get the homemade taste!
