In 1991, Kentucky Fried Chicken abbreviated the name to KFC for three reasons: 1) they wanted to take the emphasis off of chicken because they were growing and offered other foods besides just chicken 2) they didn’t want “fried” in the name anymore because of the unhealthy associations people have when they think of “fried food” and 3) a shorter name was more appealing to younger individuals.
Colonel Sanders first created KFC in Corbin, Kentucky in1939 when he introduced the world to his famous chicken made with 11 herbs and spices. Since that very time, millions of people across the world have come to know and love Kentucky Fried Chicken and have the choice of either dining in or out when they eat there.
