While searching on the Internet for party ideas, I found an easy way of making Jell-O shots. Some of the recipes I found for Jell-O shots are made with alcohol; others are made with any cold beverage. For frozen Jell-O shots, you can add ice. The main thing to remember is have fun!
You can also use a mixture of orange gelatin and adding vanilla ice cream in place of your cold beverage to create Orange Cream Jell-O shots. These are real party pleasers!
When you plan your party, keep in mind the theme, this way it will help you decide on what flavor of Jell-O shots you want to make, depending on the occasion or colors.Before I tell you some more varieties of Jell-O shots, there is a standard recipe that is easy to remember:
Take one cup of boiling water and dissolve one pack of Jell-O gelatin. Any flavor will work, be creative! Once dissolved, add one cup of your cold beverage, again, the varieties are endless. Now pour into 12- 2oz. glasses, shot glasses work great, refrigerate about two hours or until firm.
Ok, now that you have the basic recipe, here is the fun part! Pick your party theme, then your flavor Jell-O shots. Since the shots can be made with or without alcohol, it is absolutely necessary to know if children will be attending.
For the adults, here are a few ideas for creating your own easy to make Jell-O shot!
For a Caribbean theme, or maybe a pool party, try blue Jell-O with Peach Schnapps for your one cup cold beverage. This will create a flavor resembling fruity pebbles. How about lime & tequila Jell-O shots. In the same tropical theme, try yellow Jell-O (pineapple is great) with coconut rum. Remember, with all these Jell-O shots you need to dissolve the Jell-O in one cup of boiling water before adding your cold beverage. Then divide and chill.
In the fall, you could make Extreme Apple Jell-O shots by adding one cup of apple schnapps to dissolved apple gelatin. The substitutes are endless!
Do you like cherry coke? Try cherry Jell-O and Coke to make; you guessed it, Cherry Coke Jell-O shots! For a more elegant party, mix either raspberry or strawberry Jell-O with Ginger Ale and create Ginger-berry Jell-O shots.
In the beginning of this article I mentioned adding ice to create a frozen Jell-O shot. It is the same idea just a few variations. Dissolve two boxes of Jell-O in two cups of boiling juice or water, add one cup of alcohol or cold beverage, add one cup of ice and blend. This will make a larger amount, so you’ll need more glasses.
One word of caution when using alcohol in your Jell-O shots; because the shots are small and sweet, it could be easy to overdo. So remember, use moderation and be responsible. Don’t drink and drive.
