Everyone is familiar with the sexy Victoria Secret girls. They appear in the company’s popular lingerie catalogs and on television advertisements. There have been many Victoria Secret girls in the last several years. Here is a short list of some of the most successful and recognizable Victoria Secret girls.
Tyra Banks was a top supermodel of the 1990s, and was the first African-American model featured on the cover of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. She became a regular of the Victoria Secret girls and also appeared on many fashion magazine covers. Tyra Banks made appearances in the movies Higher Learning and Coyote Ugly. On television, Tyra is the producer of the hugely popular America’s Next Top Model, which began in 2003. She has her own talk show, The Tyra Banks Show which began in 2005. The same year, Tyra officially retired from modeling so she could concentrate on her television career.
Heidi Klum was one of the best-known fashion models of the late 1990s. Already popular in America as one of the Victoria Secret girls, Heidi made a bigger splash when she appeared on the cover of the 1998 Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. She made regular appearances as herself on the Michael J. Fox sitcom, Spin City. Last year, Heidi married the British soul singer Seal. They have a son, Henry who was born in September 2005. Heidi also has a daughter from her relationship with auto racer Falvio Briatore.
Gisele Bundchen appeared four times on the cover of Vogue in 1999, becoming one of the year’s most celebrated models. The next year Rolling Stone magazine labeled her “The Most Beautiful Girl in the World.” Gisele furthered her popularity as one of the Victoria Secret girls and has been featured in high-profile campaigns for Guess and other products. Perhaps she is best known for her romance with actor Leonardo DiCaprio.
Rebecca Romijn-Stamos was a popular model of the 1990s. Rebecca gained early fame for appearing in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue and after becoming one of the Victoria Secret girls. In 2000, she ventured into movies, appearing as the blue-skinned superheroine Mystique in the movie X-Men. She later appeared in Femme Fatale and X2: X-Men United. On the personal front, Rebecca married actor John Stamos in 1998; they announced their separation in April 2004.
Stephanie Seymour was a leading supermodel of the 1990s. She has appeared in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue, on the cover of Vogue and other high-fashion magazines, and perhaps is most famous for being one of the Victoria Secret girls. Stephanie dated rock star Axl Rose of the band Guns ‘N Roses for several years. In 1995 she married businessman Peter Brant.
Claudia Schiffer was a well-known model in the 1990s, and got her first major American exposure much like Anna Nicole Smith, by appearing in a print ad for Guess Jeans. Claudia went on to become one of the Victoria Secret Girls, as well as appearing on magazine covers and in print ads. Personally, Claudia was the longtime girlfriend and fiancee of magician David Copperfield, although they broke up in 1999. In 2002, Claudia married film producer Matthew Vaughn in 2002.
Frederique van der Wal appeared on the covers of Cosmopolitan, Glamour, and Vogue and later became one of the Victoria Secret girls, making regular appearances in the company’s catalogues throughout the 1990s. Frederique soon introduced her own line of swimsuits, lingerie and fragrances.
