Maternity clothing are no longer lacking in style or flair. Being pregnant is now considered something to be proud of and not something to hide. This is a good thing. But one must be careful not to spend a small fortune on maternity clothing that will only look good on you for 6 or 7 months. Months after delivery you may still fit in your maternity clothing (much to your chagrin) but they will no longer be clothes you will wish to wear.
Consider first shopping at reuse - it or second-hand shops. Many of the shops in our area deal only with name brands and only clothes that are in very good condition. Most maternity clothing should still be in excellent shape as they don’t get a lot of wear. This is important for those who wish to save money and not break the budget. It is also important for the working woman who may feel she needs a fairly large variety. Shop the reuse-it shops. Try several stores as they are all different. Remember, even second hand shops have sales. Don’t be embarrassed. The maternity clothing today in these shops is very, very nice. The money you save can be spent on the baby.
It is recommended to have 5 pair of pants, perhaps 2 black, one blue and 2 of the color of your choice but plain. Also, at least one pair of jeans. Spend your money on the tops for this is what people notice.
The first place to look for maternity clothing is in your own closet and that of you husband’s where the items are free! Those dress shirts or flannel shirts can add a change to your wardrobe when used over a turtle neck or t-shirt and are quite stylish. And don’t forget his sweaters! In fact, with the style of layering short jackets and sweaters over other maternity clothing you will find that many of your own clothes can be worn for a least a few months over some new tops. Use your accessories to change your look rather then buying more maternity clothing. You may be able to make it through all your months without a dress if one of the pair of pants is dressy. A skirt might be a better choice as the tops will add change to the outfit.
There are many stores on-line that sell very stylish maternity clothes. Choose wisely. Make sure you will be comfortable. It is very important to be comfortable. Tight might look good on the model but when you hit 9 months those choices may be cause for regret.
