Cyberpunk Clothing - Rocks on!
Cyberpunk clothing is not your average everyday fashion statement, but it does make a very bold statement. Cyberpunk clothing is a fashion movement mostly seen in underground nightclubs and is popular among the punk rock crowd. This modern line style of clothes includes the unusual looks of Industrial fashion; Gothic fashion and BDSM fashion and appear very counterculture in their attempt to find their individual identity. Cyberpunk clothing is accessorized with post modern computer components, wiring and electronics to their gear.
Industrial fashion incorporates the look of military uniforms, high combat boots and some aspects of punk fashion to Cyberpunk clothing.
Gothic fashion leans toward the dark side, consisting mainly of black clothes with accessories made of silver or pewter metals. These can include tight fitting trousers, elaborate gowns, corsets, veils, fishnet stockings with a Elizabethan and Victorian flair.
Within the gothic culture are many subcultures that determine what their idea of gothic fashion is. In one subculture, anything goes, and their color of Cyberpunk clothing can range from complete white to pitch black. Between those two extremes, the look can be modern, classic, conservative or ragged.
Occasionally, the gothic culture will tear or cut their clothes apart, normally with scissors, then fastened their clothes back together again with safety pins. This gives Cyberpunk clothing an odd held together look. Both the male and the females have various parts of their body pierced, wear dark make-up and dye their hair dark black to complete their gruesome look. The styling of their hair is equally dramatic, from hair spiking high above their head to no hair at all.
Finally, BDSM fashion is another facet of Cyberpunk clothing. It usually consists of very revealing, lingerie, black leather or plastic attire with high heeled boots and fishnet stockings.
Now when you mix all of these styles together, you can come up with some pretty freaky Cyberpunk clothing styles. Some may think they look like science fiction characters out of a bad horror movie, the walking dead, or someone out on Halloween night, but they are kids who are clearly out to send a message.
Fashion fads, come and go with the changing social and moral climates. Gone are the happy days of the fifties, the revolution of the 60’s and 70’s, and the advancements in the 80’s and 90’s. The year 2000 seems to have brought with it some doubts and fears reflected in this dark fashion and culture.
