Preschool Themes - Plan a special birthday party for your child!

preschool-themes.jpgDon’t know where to start? Planning a party is fun, but also a lot of work. To make the job go smoother, here are a few tips on how to plan a great party based on preschool themes.

First of all, about six weeks before the big day, start thinking up some ideas for different kinds of preschool themes that your son or daughter would like for their party. What does your child like to do, does he love to play with dinosaurs? Is she really into animals? Make it fun for the both of you and brainstorm together. Ideas for preschool themes can also come from a favorite activity, story, movie or anything else you can dream up!

Narrow down all the preschool themes you both came up with , and choose your favorites. Once you both decide on a theme, now begin looking for paper items for the table, decorations, party favors ect.(be sure to include you child in the shopping). If you can’t find any pattern including your idea, consider using a certain color scheme and let your kids use their art skills to decorate the cups, tablecloth, plates, ect. with markers and stickers based on popular preschool themes. Now is when you’ll want to decide on the number of guests, the location, and of course the date and time.

The next basic step in planning a fun party based on preschool themes is to choose about six games and/or crafts for a two hour party. Adapting well-known games such as Simon Says, Pin the Tail on the Donkey, or Hot Potato work well with preschoolers. Even activities like playing tag to music can be altered around all kinds of preschool themes. Decide on a list of ideas about two-three weeks before the party. This is also when you should send out invitation cards. Making homemade invitations is a lot of fun. Your children can help cut out shapes, (flowers, paw prints?) that will compliment their chosen preschool themes.

About two-three days ahead, shop for any last minute items such as favors, candy, film, and snacks. Prepare any crafts and /or game activities. The day before either bake the cake or buy one. ( don’t forget candles) Many local grocery stores sell cakes of all sizes based on popular preschool themes.

Now comes the big day. Early that day, set up decorations, blow up latex or purchase some helium balloons. Tie some to your mailbox. Place crafts and prizes near the activity locations. Let your child help as much as possible. Parties based on our children’s favorite preschool themes take some effort to plan, but they will remember them forever.
