Cub Scouts - A great program!

cub-scouts.jpgCub Scouts are a part of the whole Boy Scout program started in 1908 by Sir Robert in America. The beginning part of the program is called Cub Scouts. The boys are in local packs. These packs are then broken down in different den groups. Youth in these groups will learn a variety of different things through the years of seven to ten years of age. To get more information, get contact information from the page on www.boyscouts.com. On this website, learn all about the different events that they do, and all the activities!

The first group in the Cub Scouts program is called the Tiger Cubs. These are boys are aged seven. In this first year, they will learn the basics of what it will take to be part of group. They will do small activities together in their den, usually in the home of their pack leader.

The second group is called the Wolf. In this den, these boys are eight years old. They have many more responsibilities than the Tiger Cubs. They have 12 different achievements to master to receive the Wolf Badge. They also have achievements in their handbook to help them earn Arrow Points.

The third group in Cub Scouts is called the Bear Cub Den. These are boys aged nine years old. If a boy has joined without being in the other two groups, must earn a Bobcat badge first. Then the rest of the group will work toward earning their Bear badge. These boys will have many more activities than the younger boys and also have to work through 24 achievements, 12 of which must be completed, before earning the Bear badge. They too can earn Arrow points.

The last group in Cub Scouts is called Webelos. These boys are in the fourth or fifth grade. This group is filled with activities and lots of outdoor fun. They get to camping, and experience but more than the younger boys. They are still part of the Cub Scout program. Instead of working on achievements as other boys do in Cub Scouts, these boys work on activity badges and the Arrow of Light Award, which is a bridge to Boy Scouting.

Along the way in all areas of Cub Scouts, these boys experience fantastic things. They get to build a pinewood derby and race it! They get to learn to cook over a campfire. They learn the challenge of working together and getting along. They learn camping in tents and along the way, develop from boys into leaders!

If your young boy has a dream to become an Eagle Scout some day, get the training he needs now and join Cub Scouts!
