So you got engaged. Well congratulations. Now the planning begins. Of course everyone will have to give their suggestions for everything, including the music you are going to play. Sure you can go with the popular music that is played at most weddings or maybe you want to pick your own package that best suits you and your husband-to-be.
The wedding songs you choose should reflect the two of you but it should also be entertainment for your guests. You don’t want bored guests at the reception. From the ceremony, to the last dance, I have come up with some suggestions for your wedding songs. I went to a site that listed music for the ceremony and how many people were using or considering using that music.
The most popular was Canon de Pachelbel, followed by one of my favorites by Alison Kraus When You Say Nothing at All. The least popular was Awesome (by Gerald Levert). No one had chosen this song.
You could actually click on the title and listen to and buy the music. Keep in mind the prelude music sets the tone for the whole ceremony. Some of the popular wedding songs picked for this part of the ceremony are Bless the Broken Road (Rascal Flatts) Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring (Bach). I guess it depends on your taste. If you want traditional I would choose Bach. If you are having a modern type ceremony you can choose a more modern song.
After the bride and groom are pronounced the couple walks down the aisle to more music picked by you. From This Moment (Shania Twain & Bryan White) and Canon in D (Pachelbel) to Bridal Chorus (Classical Celtic), which I listened to. It has a lot of traditional wedding songs on it.
Now you are off to the reception and you need to pick wedding songs for the bouquet toss, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, Hit Me With Your Best Shot, Wishin and Hopin, and This Ones For the Girls topped the list.
Cake cutting, another chance to pick your favorite song. I never knew there was actual cake cutting music. But there is like Pour Some Sugar on Me, Hmmm not something I would pick with Grandma watching, or choose a song called Cut the Cake, that’s appropriate.
Dinner music is next and there is a large variety of wedding songs to choose from. You make up your own CD. Then comes the dancing. Choose Wedding songs to get the guests up and moving. I am sure your DJ will have the favorites. Mother, Son dances and Father, Daughter dances are special. Choose a song that will make a special memory for you both. A song that reminds you of each other. And don’t forget the Bride and Groom dance. I am sure you have some special wedding songs in mind, maybe something personal that means a lot to the both of you.
So when choosing wedding songs, choose music that will make a joyous occasion a memorable one for years to come. As always you can check the web for ideas. It is just a click away.
