One of my favorite programs to watch on the Outdoor Life Network (also known as OLN) is “Elk Country Journal.” This is a television series which has become the official series for the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation has over 100,000 members and has not only conserved but enhanced wildlife habitat throughout North America.
The emphasis of this show on the Outdoor Life Network will be spreading the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation’s conservation messages while also letting viewers see just how beautiful Elk country really is. The show is hosted by Wayne Carlton and each episode will highlight a different outdoors adventure on the Outdoor Life Network. These adventures include activities such as fly fishing, whitewater rafting, safe and ethical hunting, and various types of wilderness recreation opportunities. In addition, viewers of the Outdoor Life Network will be able to receive beneficial tips from some of the most prestigious hunters and outdoorsmen and learn about the history and hunting heritage of Elk country.
Some examples of the episodes in this series on the Outdoor Life Network are:
Vermejo Turkey – This is where the host, Wayne Carlton will take the viewers to “turkey school” where students learn the art of calling and tracking these beautiful birds, and then they will go into the field on a hunt for the elusive creatures.
Best of Elk Country – Viewers will be taken on a trip back throughout the season to see the most exciting hunts and dramatic encounters that were accomplished by the volunteers for the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
Gardiner Elk – These are a type of elk that are found north of Yellowstone Park and in this episode will feature a winter hunt.
The History of Conservation – This episode will feature the Elk Horn Mountains in Montana and the development on ethics of hunting in America will be discussed.
Trout and Scout – Wayne Carlton, host, will head into the West Elk Wilderness to talk about scouting in the pre-season for elk and do a little fly fishing.
If any of these topics or content interest you, you won’t want to miss the shows!
Of course, besides “Elk Country Journal,” the Outdoor Life Network features many other top programs that are attractive to viewers of all ages and interest. You can catch reruns of Survivor and if your interest is sports, the Outdoor Life Network features Grand Prix Racing, rodeo and most recently added, live NHL hockey!
I’m partial to the outdoors programming though so I tune into “Elk Country Journal” as often as I can on the Outdoor Life Network because of the variety of programs it offers in its series. If you don’t have this channel and you think it’s something you would like, call your local cable company and ask them to get you connected with the Outdoor Life Network today!
