Little Rascals - All about our gang

little-rascals.jpgThe Little Rascals, also known as Our Gang, was an American comedy series that was produced for television in the 1950’s. It began as a series of short films in the 1920’s about a group of poor neighborhood children and the adventures they shared together.

The Little Rascals was directed by Hal Roach and Robert F. McGowan. It was the first time that a series on television broke new ground by putting black and white children together and have them portrayed as equals. This type of thing was never done before.

The Little Rascals show was very popular on television and it wasn’t soon long after it’s debut that there was other licensed merchandise such as comic books and toys for people to purchase. The very first episodes of The Little Rascals were filmed in 1922 and found their end in 1944. Altogether, there are 221 episodes which included some memorable ones here on this page such as:

In 1994, Universal Pictures released a feature film which brought in over $50 million at the box office.

The Little Rascals most memorable characters were Spanky, Buckwheat, Alfalfa, Darla, Pineapple and Porky. These priceless characters became well known as cultural icons and were well known just by their first names.

There have been VHS and DVD’s released of The Little Rascals, the one most notably were the first ten volumes released on DVD compilations by Hallmark Entertainment. Another DVD was issued on November 15, 2005. MGM has also released several VHS tapes of it’s short films. There are also many unofficial versions that were released of both Our Gang and The Little Rascals over the years. You can enjoy all of these for years to come in your home.
