Dog the Bounty Hunter - The family behind the hit tv show
By now everyone has heard of “Dog the Bounty Hunter”, the hugely popular show on A&E. Each episode of Dog the Bounty Hunter, features Dog the Bounty Hunter, a.k.a., Duane Chapman and his gang risking their lives while trying to bring in fugitives of the law.
Duane Chapman, Dog the Bounty Hunter, is considered the greatest bondsman in the world, having made more than 6,000 captures in his long career. However, he wasn’t always on top. Duane himself is an ex-convict, having once served time in a Texas prison. Now on the other side of the law and a born-again Christian, he is tireless in his efforts to bring in criminals. However, his job doesn’t end at simply bringing them in. After serving time in prison, he vowed that he would redeem himself by working for the law instead of against. Therefore, with the criminals that he catches and brings in, he offers them a second chance, encouraging them to go straight and to turn their lives around.
Working beside him is his wife and business partner, Beth Smith. Beth became a licensed bondsman at the age of 21, and actually got involved in this line of work because of the work that Duane was doing as a bondsman in Denver. Feisty and tough-as-nails, she feels she is blessed to have overcome hard times in her own life and wants to help others do the same. Beth takes care of most of the paperwork with the business which includes following leads, investigating fugitive addresses, and warrants. Duane and Beth live in Hawaii with three of his children, and also have grandchildren, which are sometimes seen in episodes.
Tim Chapman, although not related to Duane, is another part of the gang with many years of experience in the bondsman business. He is the third generation in his family to be in the business, and has been in the business for twenty-five years, working with Duane for twenty-one. Duane considers him a blood brother and part of the family.
Also on the Dog the Bounty Hunter team is Leland Chapman, Duane’s third son. Sporting many tattoos, he has been working with his dad for several years. Family is very important to him and includes his wife and two children.
Duane Lee Chapman II, Duane’s second-oldest son rounds out the crew. Duane Lee recently joined the Dog the Bounty Hunter team full time and has a wife and four children, who reside in Colorado.
Dog the Bounty Hunter is an intense, entertaining, and inspiring show that appeals to many viewers men and women alike. Dog the Bounty Hunter has been on television, airing on A&E, for two seasons and is about to start it’s third season on March 21.
