Deal Or No Deal - Which briefcase should they choose?

Deal Or No DealThe basis of the TV game show Deal or No Deal is that there are usually a number of cases, each of which contains a different amount of money.  The contestants on Deal or No Deal aren’t aware of how much money is in each case and they have to pick one case in which could possibly have their prize.  Then, on Deal or No Deal, they have a policy to go through and open the cases that are left and reveal the prizes in side.  At different intervals throughout, they receive an offer from the Banker to purchase the case that they originally chose which is an offer based on the possibly value of the contestant’s case.  At that part of the show, the contestant needs to make a decision whether they want to take the deal from the bank or continue to play and take a chance on opening up the other briefcases.  Should the contestant decide not to take the deal and there are low value cases that are revealed, the bank’s next offer is more or less going to be higher.  On the other hand, on Deal or No Deal, there is a risk when the higher values are revealed which lowers future offers from the Banker.  This is what makes the game show suspenseful and exciting.

The versions of Deal or No Deal vary from country to country.  In the United States, it is an hour long show and is hosted by the famous actor and comedian, Howie Mandel.  It premiered on NBC in December 2005 and aired for 5 nights in a row.  The final grand prize on Deal or No Deal was $1 million.  In America, the cases are held by models who are all dressed alike.  There are no trivia questions or stunts performed and there is focus on personal stories of the contestants.

In the second week of the show Deal or No Deal, the grand prize started at $1 million on Monday and increased by $500,000 for the first new game each night.  News had it that it was up to a top prize of $3 million by Friday.  The final episode of the show aired on June 5 and when the show returns in September of this year (2006), it will air on Mondays at 8:00 pm and Thursdays at 9:00 pm.  On Thursday nights, Deal or No Deal will be in a very competitive timeslot up against two other very popular shows, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and Grey’s Anatomy.  To search for more info on the show, visit the show’s home site at http://www.dealornodeal.com .  Make sure to tune in until the very end!
