Daisy Fuentes - Her rise to the top
Daisy Fuentes was born in Havana, Cuba on November 17, 1966. Her family moved to Madrid, Spain when she was three years old and fours years after that, found themselves in Harrison, New Jersey where they made the rest of their lives. Daisy Fuentes studied journalism and communications at Bergen Community College. She took this very seriously and worked as a weather reporter, then news anchor, and eventually began reporting for the evening news on TV. She was only 19 years old at the time of her start and quickly became very popular with the Latino audience. It wasn’t too long after that when MTV noticed her and made their contact. In 1988, Daisy Fuentes moved on to work in a Spanish station in New York as a news anchor. Later that year, she sent a demo tape and letter to MTV who almost immediately hired her as the host for MTV Internacional which later was to become MTV Latino.
Daisy Fuentes was the first Latino DJ on MTV. Because of her fantastic work, she eventually became the host of MTV Style and also did the Top 20 Countdown of videos both on MTV and on MTV Latino.
While Daisy Fuentes worked for MTV, she really began to develop her acting skills and landed herself a role on the soap opera Loving. After this role, she found herself in roles on shows such as Dream On, Cybill and The Larry Sanders Show. Daisy Fuentes also hosted America’s Funniest Home Videos for two seasons and was even host of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve in 1998. Daisy Fuentes also hosted the 1999 Billboard Latin Awards, Miss Teen USA, Miss USA and several Miss Universe pageants.
She is absolutely gorgeous (you can find her photos on the web!) and because of this has really shined in her modeling career. She has joined the high ranks of other supermodels such as Claudia Schiffer and Cindy Crawford as she is a Revlon spokes model known worldwide.
Daisy Fuentes took her acting abilities to the big screen in 1996 when she filmed Curdled, directed by Quentin Tarantino. She has a wonderful charm about her, high intellect, warm personality and of course, she is beautiful. Her career is nowhere near being over just yet.
Daisy Fuentes was married to her high school sweetheart, Timothy Adams in 1990 but they divorced in 1994. She had a long-time relationship with Luis Miguel from 1995 – 1998 and is now currently engaged to Matt Goss.
