The history of Martin Luther King, Jr. is extensive. He was born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia to a reverend and his wife. There is not much known of his childhood. He married the former Coretta Scott on June 18, 1953. They have four children born between the years of 1955 to 1963.
The history of Martin Luther King, Jr. begins with his education. He was very intelligent and enrolled in Morehouse College at the age of fifteen, having skipped both the ninth and twelfth grades. In 1948, he graduated from Morehouse with the B.A. degree in Sociology. The following fall, he enrolled in a theological seminary in PA. He was awarded a Bachelor of Divinity degree in 1951. He attended many colleges and universities and was awarded many doctorates. He was ordained as a minister in 1948. He moved to direct activities of the Southern Christian Leadership conference from 1960 until his death in 1968.
