9/11 Terrorist Attack - We will never forget
The 9/11 Terrorist Attack (also know as the September 11th attacks) were a series of terrorists attacks that were carried out upon United States soil on September 11, 2001.
After the morning of the attacks, it was learned that nineteen men who were associated with Al-Qaeda hijacked four passenger jet airliners. Two of these commercial planes were crashed into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City which caused them to collapse to the ground within a couple of hours of being it. The third commercial plane was crashed into the Pentagon in Arlington County, Virginia. The fourth plane was overturned by the passengers when they attempted to take control of it and it ended up crashing in a rural field in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. It was assumed that the fourth plane was headed towards the White House in Washington, D.C. There were over 3,000 lives that were lost in the 9/11 terrorist attack.
It was revealed that there were 27 members of Al-Qaeda who were supposed to take part in the 9/11 terrorist attack but in the end, only 19 ended up participating.
The American government determined that the mastermind behind the 9/11 terrorist attack was Osama bin Laden and he is the one, along with Al-Qaeda who are responsible. Although he initially denied having any involvement in the 9/11 terrorist attack, others believe differently. He has since admitted to having involvement in the 9/11 terrorist attack several times on Al Jazeera and that he directed the 19 hijackers.
Approximately one month after the 9/11 terrorist attack, United States forces moved into Afghanistan in pursuit of Al-Qaeda in order to crumble the Taliban government for referring to themselves as a terrorist organization. They also moved in to search for their primary suspect, Osama bin Laden but to date, he has not been found – neither at his home nor at any other site.
Rescue attempts and recovery attempts from the 9/11 terrorist attack took months to complete. It was horrible in that it took several weeks to completely extinguish the fires from the burning rubble in the buildings. It wasn’t until May 2002 that the clean-up wasn’t completely finished. There were relief funds that were set up immediately to help the victims and the families of the victims.
Our world was forever changed after the 9/11 terrorist attack and it left the United States in a vulnerable position for attacks at any time. People need to be more aware and alert of their surroundings while they shouldn’t live in fear, they shouldn’t ever forget.
