paper-flowers.jpgHere are some fun ideas for your family on this page on this site making handmade paper flowers! These are great craft ideas, especially for children because paper flowers are simple and fun to create. You have the choices of using plain white sheets or you can choose to be creative with different colors. You will find that the things you need to make paper flowers are generally easy and don’t really require a lot.

How to make paper flowers

What you’ll need:
Pipe cleaners
Scissors or craft scissors
Lots of different kinds of sheets! Use from a notebook, wrapping role for gifts, waxed, from magazines, newspapers, tissue papers, and even aluminum foil

Instructions
To begin, fold one end of the pipe cleaner down about a quarter of an inch of the way. Do this two or three times until you form a little nub. You can give your flower a pretty colored center by wrapping the end of the pipe cleaner with a small piece of any of your sheets and then folding it down. Now it’s time to get creative! Cut out any shapes that you desire. Cut circles, triangles, starts, stripes, anything you can think of. If you use craft and special scissors you’ll be able to get some really neat edges for your paper flowers. Next, push the piper cleaner through the center of the papers. Make sure the decorative and pretty side of the papers are facing the nub that you made with the pipe cleaner. Do the small circles first and then the larger shapes. Slide them up through the piper cleaner until you get to where they bend. Scrunch them up until you get them looking like an actual flower! If you’re not feeling inspired, you can get different ideas for paper flowers just by using your imagination. The more kinds of different papers you use and the more different shapes you cut and create, the prettier and more unique your paper flowers will be!

How to make tissue paper flowers

What you need:
Pastel colored tissue papers
Chenille stem
Scissors
Ruler

Instructions:
Cut the tissue papers into rectangles of the desired sizes. Stack 4-6 pieces of tissue papers – the more different the colors, the better! Make an accordion pleat of the tissue papers from one side to the other. Wine one end of the chenille stem around the middle of the accordion pleated tissue papers. Separate each layer gently by pulling them upwards towards the middle – do this gently! You will be pleasantly surprised at the beautiful tissue paper flowers you have created!
