Craft Projects - Valentine’s Day and Easter Ideas

craft projects for your kids and you to do as a familyDo you enjoy crafts? Do you consider yourself “crafty”? Well, even if you don’t think you are, there are craft projects out there that even you can do that don’t require much time, effort, or money.

I consider myself moderately crafty, and I enjoy doing craft projects when I have the time. I am pretty good at putting together ideas for craft projects, which I do a lot around Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Easter, Halloween and Mother’s Day.

A good place to start if you are thinking of doing crafts is to go to your local store that specializes in supplies for craft projects. Michaels is a popular chain store with locations everywhere. Stores like Wal-Mart also carry a good selection of supplies for crafts. Next, consider what it is you would like to make. I get a lot of ideas for craft projects from Parents magazine. They have simple ideas for craft projects in most every issue, but especially around a holiday. I also get ideas off the internet. Making crafts are also a good idea for gifts, especially for holidays like Valentine’s Day, Easter and Christmas. There are many craft projects out there for children to do as well. Following are some Valentine’s Day and Easter craft projects I have done which you may like to try.

Valentine’s Day

~ Decorate a picture frame with candy conversation hearts. Put a picture of someone special in the frame and give to a loved one as a gift.

~ Make a scrapbook using stamps or scrapbooking supplies. This makes a great Valentine’s gift for a spouse, or other loved one.

~ Shape a long piece of heavy wire into the shape of a heart. Take strips of red, pink, white, and Valentine’s patterned fabric. Tie the pieces of fabric onto the wire until fabric completely covers the wire. Tie a piece of fabric into a loop and attached to the top for hanging.

Easter

~ Buy paper mache shapes such as bunnies, eggs and crosses. Take pieces of wrapping paper and glue them onto the paper mache, in no particular pattern. This doesn’t have to be fancy, just glue the pieces on, overlapping them. When finished you have a beautiful Easter decoration.

~ Use sponges to sponge paint terra cotta flower pots. Fill the pot with Easter flowers.

These are simple crafts that don’t take much time to make and don’t cost a lot of money. Many of the craft projects I have made cost very little to make, yet they are priceless treasures to those I have given them to as gifts. You don’t have to be Martha Stewart to be crafty! Just use your imagination.
